Hiya, Fay!
So, you may have heard that there’s a Tropical Storm out in the South Atlantic that may be upgraded to a hurricane by the time it reaches the U.S. - Fay.
It’s over Cuba now, where it’s expected to do nice things like dump 10″ of rain and cause flash flooding.
By the end of the week it’s expected to bring some lush rainfall to the Carolinas as it sweeps North.
What’s exciting is what it’s going to do between now and then. I’ve placed a white “X” approximately where our house is on this map from The Weather Channel:

Thrilling, eh?
Yeah, we have batteries and canned goods.
It’s not like we’re worried that it’s going to rip the roof off our house, but for whatever reason it seems like the power goes out around here at the least provocation, and our friends and neighbors say that any time a Hurricane goes by we could easily be without power for a week or even two. *Hopefully* this will miss us by enough that the outage won’t be that long - but there will almost certainly be one.
As an added challenge, we’re on well water. Which is extracted by a pump. Which runs on electricity.
Luckily we have our little frind “Dog” - the Honda generator we use with the RV. We filled up the gas can and changed his oil, so the plan is to use him intermittantly to run the water pump as needed.
So in a worst-case scenario, we can even wash wet diapers in the sink if it lasts loner than my diaper stash. And we can heat up canned goods with the propane camp stove, and so on.
But to be without our air conditioner and dehumidifier for possibly *days*? It’s giving me a migraine just thinking about it…
Please pray for things here to go smoothly, but especially for those who will find themselves in the truly dangerous path of the storm.
A full-time RV family shares their adventures - homeschooling two kids, running a home business on the road, life in an RV, interesting travel and dining experiences, you name it...

My thoughts and prays are with you and all families that fall in the path of the storm. We’ve had some turbulent weather in NZ recently, but it’s nothing compared to what you describe. Take care and keep safe!
