REVIEW: Big Trouble, Zoom (Tim Allen)
Another actor-driven movie streak:
We rented “Big Trouble,” having never heard of it, hoping that with Tim Allen it would prove to be entertaining.
Not so much.
Tim Allen was entertaining (although not as prominent in the film as you might hope), and it had a number of really funny little incidents and lines… But it just didn’t add up to a good movie.
The plot was thin. Really thin. So thin they forgot to even wrap up all the loose ends at the end!
And again, in a PG-13 movie, there was a gross foot-fetish scene, not to mention alcoholism, flagrant adultery, and crass sexist references. Eeew!
But we boldly went on the Tim Allen ride again. After all, he’s the star of one of our very favorite movies, Galaxy Quest! I always get a kick out of how they managed to make a movie that “Trekker” fans love, and that people who hate Star Trek love, too.
Since we’re comic book and super hero fans, we thought we’d give “Zoom - Academy for Superheroes” a try.
Rated PG, it was delightfully free of inappropriate content (aside from the universally applauded bratty kids who don’t respect authority).
We really wanted to like it, but just couldn’t quite get there. It had all the elements of a good superhero movie, but the way they were proportioned and paced it just didn’t fall together.
Ed. Note: We’re on the road to Dallas, heading for the annual company Convention. It is HOT and HUMID here in South Mississippi… Ick!
