What’s hot from the oven today?

Pumpernickel Bread!

The Pumpernickel Bread was quit a hit!

It sold out yesterday, and we’ll be making more today.

We’ve discovered an interesting split:

Some people like a pumpernickel that has a little bit of “bite” from the grain (like rye does), while others think a pumpernickel should be more sweet (and if so, should it be honey or molasses?).

The one we’re making now is the former.

What do you think?

Knaus Berry Farm Price Changes

Commodity prices have been changing so fast and furiously lately that Knaus Berry Farm has had to make some changes as well.  (Did you know that the price of flour has tripled in the last month?!)

Be sure to check out the Bakery Menu for all the latest information…

Record Strawberry!

The season’s Record-Breaking Strawberry was picked at Knaus Berry Farm on January 27, 2008.

Giant Strawberry

That big mama weighs in at a whopping 3.3 ounces!  (The previous record holder was a “mere” 3 oz.)

U-Pick strawberries are still available…  Think you can find a bigger berry?

9-Grain is Here to Stay!

It’s Official -

The 9-Grain Bread we developed a few weeks ago is a hit, and has been officially added as a permanent menu item.

If you haven’t tried it yet, don’t miss out on this light, sweet bread that even those “I don’t like grainy bread” people in your life will enjoy!

Daily Baking Times - Schedule

Just a note to let you now when to come if you’re looking for your favorite hot, fresh goodies…

Cinnamon Rolls

Cinnamon Rolls are scheduled to be coming out of the oven HOT when the doors open at 8 am.  Then we bake them more or less constantly all day until we reach the number Mr. Tom has decided on as the number we’re likely to sell.

So on busy days - Saturdays and holidays - the last batch is often coming out around 4 pm.  But on less busy days, the last batch may be done around 1 pm.  So if you’re looking for the burn-your-fingers-HOT-from-the-oven taste, be sure to come early!

Bread

Bread dough is interspersed between the Cinnamon Rolls.  I can make the dough slightly faster than the girls can make it into rolls and get it in the oven, so after every few bowls of Cinnamon Roll dough I make a bowl of bread dough.

Done this way, it takes most of the dough-making day to get through the list of breads, sticks and rolls that are on the agenda.

So if you come at 10 am for your HOT Cinnamon Rolls, you may find that the type of bread you want isn’t done yet…  To be sure you have your full choice of breads, come later in the day; or call ahead to see when your favorite variety will be coming out of the oven.  (305) 247-0668
